Stephen Farrell – Chief Executive Officer
Stephen C. Farrell currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Convey Health Solutions (formerly known as NationsHealth, Inc.), a technology-enabled healthcare business process outsourcing company headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Convey Health Solutions utilizes both technology and staff to manage end-to-end insurance processes for business clients.
Before joining Convey Health Solutions in 2011, he served as President of PolyMedica Corporation, a publicly traded provider of diabetes supplies and related services that was acquired in 2007 by Medco Health Solutions. During his eight-year tenure at PolyMedica, Mr. Farrell served as its President, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Treasurer.
Mr. Farrell previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Stream Global Services, Inc., a business process outsourcing company. Earlier in his career, Mr. Farrell served as Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Mr. Farrell holds an A.B. from Harvard University, and an M.B.A. from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.
Mr. Farrell served on the board and was chairman of the Audit Committee of Questcor Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on the treatment of patients with serious, difficult-to-treat autoimmune and inflammatory disorders from November 2007 to until August 2014, when Questcor was acquired by Mallinckrodt plc.
Mr. Farrell is also a member of the board of BioTime Inc, a biotechnology company focused on the emerging field of regenerative medicine. He also serves as a member of the board at STAAR Surgical, a leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of implantable lenses for the eye with companion delivery systems.
Tim Fairbanks – Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Tim Fairbanks is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Convey Health Solutions. He has managed the financial strategy of the organization since revenue inception in 2002. With over 20 years of experience, he is responsible for our accounting, financial planning & analysis, human resource, compliance, and legal functions. During his tenure, he has led Convey through an early stage public offering and two growth oriented private equity investments. Additionally, Tim works with our Board of Directors and private equity investors to guide future expansion to better meet the needs of our clients. Before joining Convey, Tim held various finance and accounting roles in both public and privately-held companies, including Republic Services Group (NYSE: RSG), NationsHealth, Inc. (Nasdaq: NHRX) and Print Source USA. Mr. Fairbanks has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Florida Atlantic University.
Jonathan Starr – Executive Vice President
Jonathan has 20 years of experience in healthcare finance and operations. In his current role at Convey, he leads strategic planning and member operations for our benefits administrations and business process outsourcing businesses. Prior to joining Convey Health Solutions, he served as Chief Financial Officer at PolyMedica Corporation and its Liberty Medical Supply subsidiary, one of largest direct-to-consumer diabetes service companies in the United States. Mr. Starr has proven capabilities in managing large organizations and delivering superior service to health plan members. He holds a BA in Management from Clark University and an MBA concentrating in Finance from the Bentley Graduate School of Business.
Joanne Thompson – Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer
Joanne has over 20 years of experience in the managed care industry, holding leadership positions in sales, quality and compliance she was employed by United Healthcare for 18 years and held positions as the National Director of Quality and the National Director of Compliance. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University and an M.S. in Organizational Leadership from St. Thomas University and a Graduate Certificate in Compliance from Florida Gulf Coast University.
Ms. Thompson is a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified in Healthcare Privacy, a Certified Compliance Professional, a Leading Professional in Ethics and Compliance (LPEC), and an Accredited Healthcare Fraud Investigator (AHFI). She is also a member of the SCCE (Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics), HET (Health Ethics Trust) and NHCAA (National Healthcare Anti-Fraud Association).
Giray Akar – Chief Technology Officer
Giray has over 20 years of experience in technology with a healthcare focus and a deep understanding of Medicare business. Spearheading our purpose-built technology solutions, Giray has immersed himself in the regulatory and technology nuances of the healthcare industry. With his strategic guidance, his team focuses on developing a product that solves complicated processes in efficient and effective manner. Furthermore, the team also emphasizes on delivering a solution where we treat our clients’ business as if it were our own. Mr. Akar has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Bosporus University in Istanbul, Turkey.
Tom Pelegrin – Senior Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer
As Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Tom is responsible for Convey’s market growth, sales, business development, brand and marketing. Tom brings more than 25 years of sales and business development experience in the healthcare markets specifically related to payer technology and operations. Most recently he was the Founder and CEO of MDInnovate, an organization focused on providing primary care services and improved patient care coordination through unique and innovative delivery models. Prior to this, Tom was a Partner with Optimity Advisors, a leading Washington, DC – based healthcare operations consulting firm where he provided subject matter expertise related to State and Federal Health Exchanges and payer enrollment and billing technology and operations. Tom also lead the firm’s business development efforts and helped grow the firm into a multi-national operation with offices throughout the US and Europe. Prior to Optimity Advisors, Tom was Vice President of Enterprise Sales for Benefitfocus, a leading cloud-based benefits management technology provider. While at Benefitfocus Tom was instrumental at building and expanding Benefitfocus’ footprint within the payer markets and founded the government programs group, which was one of the earliest providers to serve the State and Federal Health Exchange marketplaces. Tom received his bachelors degree from the University of South Florida and remains an active member of their alumni association.
Stephanie Jones – Senior Vice President & General Manager, Medicare Part D Business Segment
Stephanie has nearly 25 years of healthcare experience working for major healthcare organizations including Cigna, Coventry and UnitedHealth Group. Prior to joining Convey Health, Stephanie acquired a wide breadth of employer group and retiree health benefits experience serving in key management roles including Vice President of Product Development. As VP of Product Development, Stephanie led the company’s product design and management efforts for the Medicare Advantage and Medicaid HMO business segments for the South Florida market.
Stephanie joined Convey Health (formerly NationsHealth) in 2005 and has been instrumental in leading numerous large scale client relationships and new product launches. As Senior VP & General Manager of Technology Enabled Solutions, Stephanie has P&L, client relations and operating accountability for nearly a third of the company’s client revenue. Stephanie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Accounting from Nova Southeastern University.
Steven Mead, CPA – Senior Vice President, Finance
Steven Mead was named Senior Vice President of Finance 2012 and also provides oversight of the Company’s Philippines’ division. Mead is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, including accounting, tax, financial reporting, and control. He also leads the various subservice organization control audits for Convey as well as its treasury operations, diligence, integration and insurance posture. Mr. Mead brings to the company strong operational skills, demonstrating the ability to successfully balance financial discipline with the need to drive process improvements and efficiencies. Prior to coming onboard with Convey, Mr. Mead served as the Corporate Controller for Corporate Express Imaging & Computer Graphic Supplies and American Media, Inc. Mead graduated with his Bachelors of Science from Florida State University.
Gillian Hsieh – Senior Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis
Gillian has over 25 years of experience in corporate finance and her key areas of expertise include executive leadership, financial management, process reengineering, M&A and business strategy / planning. Prior to joining Convey, Ms. Hsieh served as Senior Vice President of FP&A at Stream Global Services (BPO), Chief Financial Officer at Peracon, Inc. (commercial real estate SaaS solutions), and Chief Financial Officer at E5 Systems, Inc. (software development solutions).
Gillian joined Convey Health in her current role in 2011. Her responsibilities include financial planning, pricing, profitability analysis, and M&A related diligence. In addition to her finance related responsibilities, Ms. Hsieh also oversees Convey’s workforce management team and efforts to optimize productivity. Gillian has a BS in Industrial Management and Engineering
from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Scott Tracey – Senior Vice President, Information Technology and Information Security
Scott has over 20 years of experience in enterprise information technology and telecommunications in contact center and technology solutions environment. His core practice areas include: Data Center Services, Information Security, Contact Center Technology, along with Cloud and Application Hosting Services. Prior to joining Convey Health, Mr. Tracey served as Vice President of Telecommunications and Information Technology at Alorica (BPO) as well as a Converged Solutions Expert at Avaya. Scott provides leadership for the continued development of an innovative, robust, and secure information technology environment. Focusing on process engineering, Scott not only provides clients with the best-of-breed technology solutions, but seeks out cost-efficient and effective IT delivery solutions both internally and for our clients. He has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maine, is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and is a member of South Florida Technology Council.
Michele Henderson – Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Michele is Senior Vice President at Convey Health Solutions. In her role, Michele leads the Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Quality Assurance Teams in creating and implementing programs to attract, engage, develop and retain talent in the organization.
Michele has over 20 year of global human resources experience. Prior to joining Convey Health Solutions in July 2016, she held the position of Regional Vice President of Human Resources for Comcast Cable. She was previously Vice President Human Resources for Office Depot, where she was responsible for Supply Chain, Retail, Merchandising and Real Estate, and held HR Leaderships roles at Reckitt Benckiser, a global consumer package goods company. In her previous roles, Michele created focused strategies to improve employee engagement, led and executed continuous improvement efforts and implemented effective talent management programs.
Michele is Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certified, and has completed professional development programs at Harvard Business School Strategic Human Resources Executive Program and University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School, Executive Leadership Program.
Michele holds a BA in Economics from Northeastern University, Boston, MA.
John Gorman – Founder & Executive Chairman of Gorman Health Group
John Gorman is Founder and Executive Chairman at Gorman Health Group (GHG). In this role, he has led the development of the industry’s leading consulting practice and several entrepreneurial ventures in government health programs. John’s work focuses on Medicare, Medicaid, and Affordable Care Act strategy, governance, and turnaround of distressed health plans. John brings GHG clients more than 25 years of experience in government-sponsored health program strategy, compliance, and operations.
GHG provides leadership and expert strategic, operational, and technology-based solutions in 21 years of continuous operations and growth. GHG has redefined solutions in risk adjustment, enrollment/eligibility/membership reconciliation, beneficiary marketing, sales agent compliance and management, and online training. The company also sources acquisitions and investments and assists due diligence teams for its clients and the investment community.
John speaks at dozens of industry and investment community conferences each year, reaching thousands of senior healthcare executives with his predictions about the evolving managed care market. He is regularly quoted in the trade press and national media, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and serves on the editorial advisory boards of several industry publications.
Prior to founding the firm in 1996, John served as Assistant to the Director of Health Care Financing Administration’s Office of Managed Care, where he provided day-to-day management and served as the external liaison for the Medicare and Medicaid managed care programs. During the 1993 debate on national healthcare reform, John was chief lobbyist on healthcare financing issues for the National Association of Community Health Centers, an organization of federally-funded primary care clinics for the medically underserved. John’s career in Washington began as Press Secretary and Staff Director for U.S. Representative John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI), then-Chairman of the Government Operations Committee.
Jeff Fox – President of Gorman Health Group
Jeff Fox is President of Gorman Health Group (GHG). In this role as a member of GHG’s senior leadership team for more than a decade, he is intimately involved with aspects of both business development and client engagement management. Jeff brings GHG clients more than 30 years of experience as one of the nation’s leading experts in government-sponsored programs as well as a passion for health insurance sales, marketing, and product development.
In addition to managing the firm, Jeff leverages his extensive knowledge in Government Programs product design, sales distribution, and marketing to deliver exceptional, hands-on insights to health plan clients across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. During his tenure, Jeff has worked alongside hundreds of managed care organizations to help develop their Government Programs strategy, empowering health plans to deliver higher quality care to beneficiaries at lower costs.
Prior to joining GHG, Jeff was Vice President of Government Programs for Health Net of Arizona. He was responsible for profit and loss of the product and managed a Medicare business unit which was responsible for all functional areas of the plan’s Medicare products, including medical management. During his time at Health Net, Jeff developed and implemented a provider-friendly and profitable network strategy with low medical loss ratios while achieving compliance scores in the 97th percentile.
Jeff also served with Prudential Health Care in Texas where he had responsibility for their Medicare product, including Prudential’s national marketing campaign for its Medicare product and AARP business marketing relationship.
Betsy Seals – Chief Consulting Officer
Betsy Seals is Chief Consulting Officer at Gorman Health Group (GHG). In this role, she monitors the operational health of our Medicare consulting practice by utilizing data to implement process improvements, oversees the implementation of strategic initiatives within the practice areas, provides operational vision and leads our day-to-day consulting operations. Betsy brings GHG clients more than a decade of operational experience and compliance expertise as an experienced Medicare managed care compliance professional.
While at GHG, Betsy has assisted Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs) and Part D Sponsors to attain and maintain compliance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations and guidance by conducting risk assessments, preparing Organizations for CMS audits, performing mock CMS audits, and creating and implementing internal and delegated entity oversight programs.
Prior to joining GHG, Betsy worked for MAOs where she served in Compliance with responsibility for creation and implementation of oversight programs, CMS audit preparation, implementation of internal corrective action plans, and the day-to-day management of Compliance operations. Betsy has also worked as a CMS Sub-Contractor to conduct CMS Compliance Program Audits.
